It has been quite a while since I updated this, don’t worry, I didn’t die! The majority of February here in L-ville was spent at 15 degrees and icy. However, this weekend Mr. Sunshine is going shine while greeting us with 60 degree temps! Time for a bike ride! Mid terms, increased work hours, and snow have made it hard to get out there when its already cold and dark. Few of you have been asking about my training and all things considered, things have been going great (other than swimming). Had a few double digit length runs now and have taken up a lot of core/str training along side of Yoga. For what it’s worth… Yoga is pretty amazing.
My first ‘big’ race is in 7 weeks, a half marathon. It’s exciting to finally have something so close that I can see the training actually pay off. My goal is 1:45, but I’m hoping to have a break through day and push it to 1:42. Another goal of mine is to start tracking how much I run/bike/workout for the month. I think it would be interesting to see the data as a whole. On another goal note, I’ve lost 16 pounds since Christmas. Cut out almost all dairy and meat and have been eating more natural foods than I was before. The only thing that ever sneaks up on me is chocolate. I swear I’m a woman PMSing when it comes to chocolate chip cookies!
I still can’t swim and haven’t had time to look for another coach because of mid terms (they’re over now thank the lord). If you know of anyone that would want to invest some time into my poor soul in the water let me know. I’m willing to pay whatever is reasonable. I’ve read the total immersion book and watched the videos a couple of times over. I really don’t think it will be hard to learn but trying it on my own is complete fail. Also looking for suggestions on a less crowded pool to learn in? The UofL pool is CRAZY busy at all hours and they really frown on using a lane for suckin up water and drowning (funny stuff imo).
Here is a video for everyone to think about. With that said, thanks for reading and thank you for all your support! I’m already extremely pumped about the race and shutting down the city for a day :)!

Good stuff Michael. It's awesome that you're eating discipline is on track. And that you're benefiting from yoga.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for posting the link for volunteer slots.
But I clicked on it and it took me to a login page.
So ... maybe everyone should try to go to www.ironmanlouisville.com - then click on the Volunteer tab at the top of the page.
Good luck finding some swim instruction.
The best thing that I can offer is to get you with a friend of mine who swam in high school that is doing IM Louisville too.
Let me know if you'd like to meet him.
Always up for meeting new people :)
